They are now looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join one their underwriting teams within the York Regional Service Centre
Job description
Working closely with the Senior Underwriting Technician, this brand new role supports their strategic growth plans into the Commercial insurance market. Based in the Regional underwriting department, you will oversee the development and maintenance of relationships between our Agency sales force and underwriting teams to deliver a market leading new business quotation and policy issue service.
Job Specification
Consultative in your approach, you will develop and influence the relationships between your underwriting teams, operational field management and Agents. Technically astute and commercially switched on, your underwriting skills will be second to none. Able to draw on practical experience of handling complex cases, you will have the confidence and credibility to build strong working relationships.
• Liaise with and support Agents and their staff together with the Operations Team to actively develop sustainable, profitable Commercial growth.
• Work closely with the Senior Underwriting Technician and be a referral point for all Commercial new business enquiries from Agents.
• Provide Commercial technical underwriting expertise and support to planned training sessions for Agents in conjunction with the Operations Team.
• Accept and review general insurance risks in line with the current company underwriting philosophy and risk appetite.
• Support Agents in training, coaching and development of the technical underwriting and sales skills of their sales and support staff.
• Support Underwriting Team leaders in delivering an efficient, quality service.
• Handle your own personal work load of the more complex Commercial cases, including customer visits when required.
• Share the highest level of underwriting authority in the Region with the Senior Underwriting Technician.
Person Specification
In addition to having a successful background in Commercial underwriting together with strong interpersonal and change management skills, you will need to be able to demonstrate all the usual attributes:

Required Qualifications
You should be ACII qualified.
