This client is a leading and highly successful word wide insurance company, with a reputation for hiring the industries best. Due to ongoing success and expansion they now have an opening within their Manchester branch for a casualty underwriter. The successful individual will already be proactively writing this type of risk with national and larger independent intermediaries throughout the North West. Although junior casualty underwriters with the desire and ability to proactively built strong and fruitful relationships with key intermediaries will be considered.

Role Purpose (Summary)

To develop the Casualty account in the Manchester Market and to underwrite business in accordance with company objectives.

General Description

Underwrite new and existing corporate Casualty business
Develop strong relationships with new and existing brokers and clients
Support the development of cross class business opportunities
Participate in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress towards business plan
Positively promote the department, division and company as a whole, in order to maximise brand leverage
Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency
Actively keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to be able to operate effectively

Essential Requirements

Strong technical expertise
Good negotiation skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Market awareness and broker development acumen
Use of risk profiling and pricing tools and loss models
